“In the beginning the ISBDC was my resource for doing business the right way; regulations, registration, and planning for success. As the business matured, what matters most always changed and the ISBDC has stayed with me over twenty years. Now I have opportunities to pay it back by mentoring other minority owned small businesses all thanks to the ISBDC.”
Alex Aguilar is the best type of business owner, he listens to his customers and coaches, follows through with advice and does his own thinking; checking with his business professional team when needed. He owns his building now after an owner carried the note and the title company helped validate the process. He has a great relationship with his banks; as well as all of the federal and state agencies! He is transparent with his customers, vendors, and associates as well. A loyal staff reflects highly of his leadership skills and ability to communicate in both English and Spanish.
Projects with the Idaho SBDC include: the purchase of the startup business, then purchased the current facility at the then new location, working through regulations when first starting out, two facility expansions, opening and closing a buffet, purchasing, and maintaining a tortilla machine, and a full liquor license throughout the history of his Burley location. He has hosted several events and is a friend to people as all quickly take to his welcoming personality. His origins include production in a foreign land called California; where he now takes his Toyota training while at the HON company and applies it to every process he sees in his restaurant. Anyone would be proud to work with Alex and his team.
